If you’re moving into a rented property, then you want to make sure that your deposit is protected for when you eventually move out again. Once you have paid your deposit, the landlord has a legal responsibility to protect your deposit in a tenancy deposit protection scheme. It must be protected within 30 days, and the landlord must provide you with the details of the scheme and how you can get your deposit back.

Check the Details

Once you’ve signed for the property and you’re ready to move in, write a list of the contents in the property and any damage that is already there and take pictures that you can compare to the photos you take when moving out. This will help prove that any damage caused was through no fault of yours and will also help you get your deposit back.
