Positive Aspects to Moving House!
15th November 2016
Moving house often gets described as one of the most stressful and daunting experiences we can go through but there can be a positive side to moving. While it can be a time consuming and frustrating task it can also be rewarding and satisfying.
Time to declutter
Take the stress out of the packing by taking time to go through each room. It can be very cathartic to decide what you need and what you would like to keep and getting rid of all the old unnecessary belongings we have clung on to for years without even thinking about it. This is an opportunity to start afresh without all the clutter of belongings we no longer want or need.
Rejoice in the past
Whilst decluttering you will come across personal treasures that have been carefully packed away and forgotten. They will represent a significant time in your life so take a break to reflect and reminisce these important periods of your past life. They may bring back memories of the happy times, struggles, accomplishments and relationships that were part of your life whilst living in your current home. A time to reflect will give you an opportunity for closure on life in this home and open the door to a new chapter in your life.
Make and save cash
Many of us are hoarders – hanging on to furniture, books, clothes we don’t want. Once you have gone through decluttering don’t just throw everything away, take the opportunity to sell items and make some cash. After all moving home is an expensive business and every little bit of cash can help. Also you may rediscover items that you had long forgotten about which will be perfect in your new home and save you from buying again.
Once you have packed up your old home you have the exciting prospect of starting a new chapter in your life. Sit down with a congratulatory glass of Champagne and start planning the décor and shopping list for your new home.
